Dear Potential member of the Academy of LDS Dentists,

As President of the Academy of LDS Dentists, I would like to personally invite you to join our organization. Under the leadership of Dr. Gordon Christensen, the Academy was organized over twenty years ago in 1987. The following is the three fold purpose of the Academy.

1. Education. This is provided at the annual meeting, through our newsletters and our website. Under Dr. Gordon Christensen’s direction, the Academy of LDS Dentists features world-class dental speakers at their annual meeting in August for dentists and their staffs as well as motivational speakers for their spouses. Equally fulfilling youth programs are also provided. Those attending the meeting receive twelve hours credit toward post-graduate education requirements. Our quarterly newsletters also inform members about the Academy. Our website, “academyofldsdentists.com” is another means of communication. The Academy awards numerous scholarships each year to worthy dental and dental hygiene students to assist them in gaining their education.

2. Service. Service provides great spiritual experiences as we serve others. Service is the bond that holds the Academy together. The Academy provides wide-ranging opportunities for service throughout the world and is truly becoming an international organization. Our website provides information about service projects sponsored by the Academy and by other sponsoring groups for your review. Remember the passage from Mosiah: “When ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God.” We truly have been blessed by our Heavenly Father and it is only proper that we in turn bless the lives of others who are less fortunate than us through the service that we render. Although we work independent of the church, much of what we do reflects favorably on the church and through our service as Academy members, we help the programs of the church move forward.

3. Fellowship: Membership in the Academy offers opportunities to make or renew friendships with other dentists, with classmates from dental school, and fellow volunteers on service projects, etc. As we participate in service projects, we develop a strong bond with our fellow volunteers, as well as with those whom we serve. Volunteers look forward to next year’s service project so they can renew their friendships with fellow volunteers and those whom they have served in past projects.

We have been blessed with some great leaders in our Academy who have had a vision of what can be accomplished as we work together. Truly, the field is white, ready for harvest. As the president of this wonderful organization, I invite you to join with us. We have all been blessed with many talents and as we share our talents with others, we also are truly enlarged. Membership in the Academy will provide many new opportunities for you to share your talents

Dr. Gordon Christensen and JTV Productions have joined together to produce a DVD that reviews the service projects and activities of the Academy. You can view this DVD online. You can download the Membership Application Form (.pdf 64KB) from our website. You should first print yourself a copy of the form. Then fill out the questions on the form and send it to the address listed. The information you include on the form will be placed in a computerized data base so you can be notified of upcoming service projects or other information. You can pay your membership fees by sending a check or filling out the credit card information. The Academy needs your help in order for it to move forward. May God bless you in all your righteous endeavors. We love you and look forward to working and serving with you.

Sincerely,

Albert Clark DDS
Academy President
