The latest information on this is available here. Dear Honduras Dental Adventurers, Leaving: Saturday afternoon, December 25 (Christmas day) at 1:20 p.m. from the SLC airport. Returning: Sunday evening, January 2 (day after New Years) at 7:51 p.m. back to the SLC airport. We're going to San Pedro Sula (SPS). The dental clinic will be held in the SPS campus of the dental school. It's a fairly new facility and isn't very well equipped yet, but it should be okay for our clinic. The stakes will be providing patients. We plan to operate from Monday morning through around noon Friday (New Years Eve), a total of 4 1/2 days. We'll go to Copan Friday afternoon, tour the ruins and shop, relax, etc. on Saturday (New Years day) and fly home Sunday. I think some of the group are planning to go Friday afternoon to Roatan and scuba dive for 2-3 days returning maybe the following Tuesday (January 4, 2005). Besides dental personnel and prospective dental students, we'll be needing people to help the entire time with humanitarian projects around the SPS area. We're thinking of organizing things so everyone will have at least a day doing humanitarian projects, even if they spend the rest of the time in dental work. I've already got quite a few people on the list. If you know anyone who might be interested in joining in, please let them know and have them contact me. I'm holding airline tickets that have to be purchased by October 26, so its important to act quickly. We're finding that some of the dental schools are now inquiring about service performed by those applying for dental students, particularly if the service has some sort of connection to dentistry. We'll be flying Continental Airlines, staying in a nice hotel, and eating in approved restaurants. The projected cost is around $1,600--$1,650 per person. Please contact: |
