Humanitarian Dental Adventures

The Honduras Dental Adventure sponsors trips to Honduras with the purpose of providing dental service to impoverished individuals, orphans, children with cancer, and future and full time missionaries. Since 2003 the group has hosted trips with general dentists, oral and maxillo-facial surgeons, endodontists, periodontists, hygienists, dental students and pre-dental students along with family members and others who help operate a dental clinic and perform other humanitarian projects.

Typically the trips last from 8-10 days, usually during the Christmas/New Year holidays and again the first of May. Dental clinics have been conducted in an orphanage, a church, and using the facilities of a local dental school. In addition to providing dental care, many dentists have been called upon to provide demonstrations, lectures and other educational experiences for local native dental faculty and dental students, teaching techniques and methods not commonly used in those countries. Each participant is responsible for paying his/her own expenses, typically between $1,300 to $1,850 per person including airfare, hotel, meals and transportation. There is usually an opportunity for optional excursions in nearby resort. Many participants have reported that this was a life changing experience for their family.

UPCOMING TRIP: To the dental school in Tegucigalpa, Honduras during May 2007. If interested in information about upcoming trips, contact either of the following individuals:
