Honduras Adventure

April 26, 2007 through May 6, 2007

Itinerary (March 2007)(subject to change)

Thursday, April 26, 2007 (Home to Houston)

Leave from Salt Lake City International Airport at 1:30 p.m. on Continental flight #290 and arrive Houston at 5:33 p.m. Gather luggage and shuttle (free) to the Airport Inn, Houston Bush Intercontinental Airport, (281) 987-8777. Tour participants will be flying in from several airports so this is the first time the entire group will be together.

All meals will be provided with the tour from now through lunch on the day of departure. Bring your own between-meal snacks and a few dollars for airport goodies if desired.

We will walk a short distance to the Kettle buffet for dinner. After dinner there will be an orientation and get-acquainted session in the hotel conference room.

Friday, April 27, 2007 (Houston to Tegucigalpa, Honduras)

Eat included breakfast at the hotel before leaving. Half of the group will take the 7:00 a.m. and half the 7:30 a.m. shuttle to the airport.

Depart at 9:35 a.m. on Continental flight #756 to Tegucigalpa. Arrive 11:36 a.m. Clear your own checked luggage through customs. Load our buses and depart immediately. After checking into the Clarion Real Hotel (we'll be at this hotel for seven nights), we'll go to the national dental school and get set up to begin seeing patients Friday afternoon. Evening group dinner.

Saturday, April 28, 2007 (Tegucigalpa)

Buffet breakfast this morning and each morning in the Clarion Real dining room. Board buses after breakfast and leave at 7:45 a.m. for the dental clinic and humanitarian projects. We'll hold a short devotional and morning prayer on board the bus each morning. Be prepared with a scripture or inspirational message to share. Lunch each day will be peanut butter & jelly sandwiches and various nuts, candy, drinks and munchies at the dental school or at the site of the humanitarian project. Evening meals will be at a different restaurant each day.

Sunday, April 29, 2007 (Tegucigalpa)

Have breakfast and board buses at 7:45 a.m. for the 45-minute drive to a remote branch for 9:00 a.m. church services and sub-for-Santa gifts distribution. After lunch we'll come back to the hotel for parilladas (traditional Honduran barbecue meal). At 3:00 p.m. we'll board the bus again for the short drive to the LDS Institute of Religion where we'll participate in a 4:00 p.m. fireside with LDS college students from throughout the region. Evening group dinner.

Monday through Thursday, April 30 through May 3, 2007 (Tegucigalpa)

Same schedule as Saturday (above). The dental and humanitarian projects will take place each day with dinner at a different restaurant each evening.

On Thursday the dental and hearing clinics and humanitarian projects will end in the late afternoon after which we'll pack -up. This evening there will be a banquet and testimony meeting at the hotel after everyone has had a chance to clean up and change.

Friday, May 4 and Saturday, May 5, 2007 (Tegucigalpa's to Roatan)

Check out of your hotel rooms, have an early breakfast (this is the last meal at the Clarion Real) and board the bus at 8:30 a.m. for a transfer to the airport and one-hour flight to the island paradise of Roatan in the Caribbean off the north coast of Honduras. We'll stay at a resort in the West Bay area where there is access to many activities such as SCUBA, snorkeling, fishing, canopy tours, swimming with the dolphins, and much more. All of these activities are optional and have costs associated with them which are not included in the tour fee.

Or you may wish to simply relax and enjoy the beach or hotel pool, go shopping, swimming, sunning, or relax in your air conditioned room. Saturday is a free day to continue your adventure.

Sunday, May 6, 2007 (Roatan to home)

Have your final beach breakfast, check out of your island paradise hotel and board the bus at 8:15 a.m. for the shuttle to LDS Church service at 9:00 a.m. after which we'll shuttle to the airport at 11:00 to be plenty early for our Continental flight #1895 from Roatan departing at 1:00 p.m. for Houston arriving at 4:55 p.m. After clearing
customs we'll go our separate ways home. Those going on to Salt Lake will meet Continental flight #742 at 8:55 p.m. arriving at 11:20 p.m. For those departing from or returning to other cities, individual flight schedules will be available about a month before departure.
