Academy Helps Organize "LDS Charites Dental Task Commitee"

President Lowell Anderson mentioned in a recent letter to Academy members that the Church is increasingly asking us to help. For years Academy officers sought to partner with the Church, but the Church was not ready. When LDS Charities asked us to help them find a missionary couple to serve in a Lima dental school, and to support the project professionally, we were delighted. LDS Charities is very impressed at how much more effective Dr. Rick and Alma Meyers are in Lima because of our help. Recently two dental missionaries couple have been called to Jakarta, Indonesia.

LDS Charities asked us to form the LDS Charities Dental Task Committee under the chairmanship of Ed Soper, Manager of Program Development, Humanitarian Services Division. The Academy asked 7 dentists with experience in dental health and dental care and dental education in developing countries to serve on the committee. They are asked to develop guidelines for future dental projects.
