It's great to see the enthusiasm which is beginning to gain momentum in doing dental service in foreign countries. Many have contacted the humanitarian service organizations which we have listed before and have signed up to go on a "bush dentistry expedition", a week taking care of an orphanage, or even a more local service experience in Utah. They and their families and in some cases also their staff have had tremendous experiences. Those  that have gone all come back with the desire to go again and again. If any of you didn't attend our conference last year and therefore didn¹t receive the service packet we gave out with the registration materials (containing the above mentioned list), please call Steve Trost  at (801) 422-4853 and he will send you a copy. Please use it to select the right project for you. We also intend to make available on our Web page the great reports of many of these groups so you can become familiar with the details of their experiences and to help you prepare to share your skills on some future expeditions. 

The main limiting factor in having more of our members join with these already well established humanitarian groups is the lack of good portable dental delivery units. With the help of Rotary International and Adec equipment suppliers, we are purchasing many portable Adec units to help facilitate these expeditions and projects. They have already been used in Bolivia, Guatemala, Peru and Mexico and are scheduled to go to Viet Nam, Nepal, and Kenya.

LDS Charities, CHOICE Humanitarian, Rotary International, Adec, Pelton Crane and others have teamed together with our Academy to facilitate our many interested members find successful ways to do dentistry in Third World countries. It is exciting to see the effect when all groups get working together.
