Opportunity to Help in the Philippines

The academy has an opportunity to help set up a dental clinic in the Philippines through LDS Charities. The clinic is for the LDS Charities Philippines project for Tarlac Agricultural College Dental-Mental Clinic, Camiling, Tarlac Province, Philippines. Included is a list of items the dentist who is serving there has requested for the new clinic. Whatever we can obtain will be greatly appreciated and put to good use.

Usually out in the provinces, the dentists have no equipment or supplies to fill teeth and save them, so the only service they perform is to pull teeth. It is so sad because most of the time the teeth could be saved with just a little work. The Public Affairs Department gives health fairs all over the main island of Luzon in the Philippines, and they tell us that the dentists who volunteer their services in the various areas end up with a half bucket of teeth they have pulled during the two-day fair. The new clinic will benefit hundreds of children and adults and will save many teeth.

Please send donations to Dr. Scott Healey, 530 North State Street, Lindon, Utah 84042; phone: 801-785-0584. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call. The donations will be collected and sent to the Philippines through the Humanitarian Center in Salt Lake, Utah.

Thank you for your help in this humanitarian service project. When we are in the service of our fellow beings we are only in the service of our God (Mosiah 2:17).
