Guadalajara (Mexico) Orphanage Project
Our volunteering in Guadalajara (Mexico) Orphanage project is still a
great way to perform humanitarian dental service. In the past many of
our members have gone with their famililies and/or staffs to help with
the dental needs of disadvantaged children. Those who have had that experience
report much joy in getting to know the children and providing a real service
to them. Most desire to do it again and again.
That opportunity is now being amplified and simplified. Dr. Francis Alder
has been asked to oversee and coordinate that project. We are grateful
to Brother Delfin Herrera, who built the first orphanage and who for 17
years has always been a help to facilitate the dental service there. He
is now the important local connection to find and establish the needed
relationship with new orphanages in the Guadalajara area.
Dr. Steven Sorensen and his wife, JoAnn,a hygienist, will be the trainers
and will provide the ongoing support for all who sign up for this great
project. A sincere thanks to Steve, Francis, and Delfin for working together
to set up this simplified and effective plan.
If you wish to go to Guadalajara or Puerto Vallarta, even if this is your
first time to provide humanitarian dental service, just call Dr. Alder
to establish the date and location of an orphanage where you can serve.
The Sorensens will provide the appropriate training and direct you toward
a successful and fulfilling service experience. Much of the ongoing helps
will be found on our Web Site, www.academyofldsdentists.com.
Check it often for information on this project as well as ideas for other
great venues where you can render dental service.
