Some seven months later they find themselves totally immersed in mission opportunities. Elder Janis, because of his background as a dental educator, is finding a niche in helping the dental school instructors upgrade their personal skills. Elder Janis has started conducting dental seminars for the faculty and staff at the Dental Center. This is the facility where most of the training in clinical dentistry for the dental students takes place. These are held two times a week and will cover the same subjects that are presented at the Dental School. The dean of the dental school, Dr. Oyunbat, has requested that Elder Janis teach a five week postgraduate course sponsored by the dental school for local dentists in the community. The subject will be Pediatric Dentistry. The course will feature a Power-Point presentation obtained from the American Association of Pediatric Dentistry. Also included in the course will be computer-based training materials that Elder Janis developed while teaching at University of the Pacific Dental School. Since demonstrations were started in the Faculty Clinic, one of the professors of Operative Dentistry has done a cosmetic case with direct composite veneers under Elder Janis’ supervision and another case on her own. The results were excellent and the patients were very pleased. Requests have been made to have others trained in cosmetic procedures on the patients at the dental school and the dental hospital. Sister Janis continues to teach English to the Dental School faculty five days a week in addition to her classes at Dr. Oyun’s clinic and at a local bank. She is helping Dean Oyunbat to obtain a visa to visit the United States to see her daughter graduate from Kansas State University. Plans are being made for her to also visit the University of the Pacific Dental School in San Francisco, the Ultradent company in Utah, and the headquarters of Deseret International Charities in Utah. Sister Janis has made it possible through her efforts for Dr. Janis to be able to teach dentistry to the dental school faculty. We wish them continued success in their labors.
