Conference Report "Something For Everyone" August 17, 2001
The annual conference was one of the largest conferences ever with over
338 of our colleagues attending from all over the world. There was literally
“something for everyone” whether you were a dentist, a hygienist, a spouse
or a young member of the family. Our lectures were full of useful information
from esthetic restorative dentistry. Removable prosthodontics, and
practice administration, restorative dentistry, to implants and periodontics.
Many pearls were shared that will make our practices run smoother. We’re
grateful for all that Gordon Christensen shared with us and his presence
that helps to make the conference a great success. The Friday night dinner
was excellent. We were treated to some special music from Amanda Nixon
who reigned as Miss Utah 1995-96. Breton Yorgason, a renowned LDS author,
was our guest speaker. He shared with us and our spouses some very important
and helpful suggestions on developing our cherished marital relationships.
His humor helped to deliver this timeless advice which is so needed in
marriages today. It was well received by all attending. Our young family
members were easy to spot this year in their lime green t-shirts as they
returned from a full day of activities with their friendly chaperones.
Friday’s luncheon was a special treat to hear the report of Rich and Alma
Morris who just returned as full time missionaries from Lima, Peru. They
had such a special experience setting up a new dental clinic at the dental
school in Lima. Their report touched us all. Also visiting our conference
was Gustavo Andrade who had organized a branch of the Academy of LDS Dentists
in Lima.
Those who put so much effort into making this conference a great success
are greatly appreciated. We look forward to seeing all of you next
year. The conference dates are August 16 and 17, 2002. Get these dates
in you calendar and make plans to attend.
