Special Service Report

At our Saturday luncheon we had the privilege of hearing an outstanding report of church service given by Rick and his wife Alma Meyers who served an LDS Mission to the Lima, Peru School of dentistry.  Sitting next to Alma Meyers is Gustavo Andrade who is currently serving as a stake president in Lima, Peru.  President Andrade with Rick's guidance has organized a chapter of the Academy of LDS Dentists in Lima, Peru.  He attended our conference and expressed his feelings and testimony. 

Rick and Alma responded to a mission call to go to Lima, Peru and set up a new dental clinic at the school of dentistry. Rick's talents in overseeing the remodeling of the clinic and the installation of the state of the art donated new dental equipment propelled the opportunities at the school of dentistry to new heights. Alma added the personal decorating touch, which had never before been experienced at the school. After the clinic was installed Rich helped with instruction of the dental students and Alma worked with the dental assistants to give them a first rate educational experience.

Through the assistance of Gerald Summerhays from the Academy, who supervised the donation of new modern equipment and supplies as well as correlation with LDS Church Humanitarian Services, the service of our profession to the church throughout the world has been taken to a new level of participation for anyone who desires to serve.

Rick and Alma will have a hard time forgetting the faces of those they were able to touch. Their service has indeed planted many seeds that will sprout in marvelous ways in the days to come.
