President's Message

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

How blessed we are to members of a wonderful profession abundant with both opportunity & challenge. Many times since the events of last September, I have
been reminded of the bounty and opportunities that we enjoy. Our recent meeting, in addition to being a wonderful educational experience, also serves as a timely reminder of the abundance and opportunities that we can share with many whose circumstances are not so favorable. It is our goal and vision as an Academy to facilitate this sharing of knowledge, skill & abundance with those in just starting their educational experiences in dentistry as well as with those in need of the care that we can provide.

I always enjoy and benefit from attending the conference. It is exciting to go home with a new idea or technique to make dentistry better, faster &/or easier & to better serve those who entrust their care to us. I marvel at the vision & initiative of the Academy's founder, Gordon Christensen, in creating the Academy and appreciate his continued efforts in securing outstanding clinicians year after year. We miss him and wish him well as he serves in California. . I hope that you will mark your calendars for next years conference August 15-16. I encourage you to share the date & opportunity with an LDS colleague who currently doesn't attend the conference. As the Academy continues to grow, we also grow in our ability to respond to needs & opportunities to serve.

We welcome the opportunity to work closely with the church. As mentioned at the fireside with Elder Carmac, we are excited about being able to channel some of our scholarship funds to the Perpetual Education Fund. We feel that this will be a great blessing to many seeking dental education worldwide. Projects such as the one recently completed in Lima, Peru continue to be discussed & we stand ready to help as needed.
We thank John Gerritson, Jerry Summerhays and Scott Healey for their untiring efforts in working with the church.

I would like to extend my appreciation to the members of the executive committee, the international advisory committee, the spouses organization, and to BYU conferences and workshops for the many hours they put in to help the Academy expand it's membership and it's potential for good.

I compliment each of you for your interest in the Academy& it's goals. We appreciate your membership, your attendance at the conference, your generous support of the scholarship fund, and for the service that you provide in your communities and abroad.
May the Lord bless each of us that we can see and realize the potentials that we have within us to serve those both near and far. May he bless each of you and your families in the coming months and year in all of your endeavors.

Sincerely,
Bret A. Tobler
Academy President
